Dawn Dravir is a bureaucrat by profession, cheesehead by birth and Las Vegan by choice.
Born in Wisconsin amid the snowy landscapes and football fanaticism of America’s Dairyland—where cheese curds are practically a food group and family life meant squeezing six people into a three-bedroom home with just one bathroom—Dawn grew up immersed in the hearty, no-nonsense spirit of the region. Her early years shaped her grounded perspective, from cheering on the Packers to appreciating the simple chaos of shared spaces.
Armed with a bachelor’s degree in English, Dawn writes about midlife, mistakes, cautionary tales, and dogs. A fervent dog lover—her X handle “Walked By Dogs” says it all—she finds solace and joy in daily strolls with her furry companions, Freddie, Ralphie and Sparky, often capturing the magic of Las Vegas sunrises that paint the sky in hues of burnt orange, purple and pink over the Strip’s distant glow.
From her humble Wisconsin beginnings to building a purposeful life in Las Vegas, Dawn embodies the American dream of starting over: practical, passionate, and always up for a good dog walk at sunrise.
